Thought I'd show you this

Here is the current quilt I'm working on. The DIL helps me with it when she can, it's her first time quilting and I'm loving that she's giving it a try, maybe I can recruit another quilter!
The frame of course, is not store bought, but one the hubby and I made. It doesn't work as good as some I've used before, but it does get the job done, with some fussing, screaming and yelling and lots of patients. I've made 4 quilts on it so far, so it's not awful!
I'm sure we'll eventually improve on the design or break down and buy one. (not in my plans at the moment).
And if you know Sage the Hedgewife, you know I like to do quilts by hand. Takes me longer sure, but I like it that way. This quilt is about a twin size, my plans are to use it in the living room for a 'toss over'. Ya know what I mean by a toss over right? One that you keep on the back of the couch or close at hand in the living room and toss it over you while you sip tea or hot chocolate (or for me coffee) on those cool or rainy or gloomy days while cherishing and old movie or even a new one. Yep, a toss over.

My next quilt I'm going to try my hand at using a lap frame. I have one (a round one), and I'm hoping to get it going before winter ends so I can use it to cover me while I quilt!

That's a warm memory. My mother was not a quilter, she loved to crochet. She made beautiful afghans. I remember every year just as summer was ending she would begin a new afghan. By the time the weather started to cool, she had the afghan big enough to cover her lap, and then when full blustery winter cold set in, she had it big enough to cover her feet. She finished it just as season ended. Smart women my mother, I think I'll try to be like her, except in quilts of course.

Even though the pictures make some of the squares in the 9 patch blocks look different colors, the rose color is all the same on the 9 patch and the bigger plain squares. Silly picture taker camera.

Yes, I have been crafting!

I know, I know..no posts in a long time. Many of you must think I've given up on the 'crafting' but I have not. Trust me.

As of recently here is what has been 'crafting' around at my house!
First off..I've made this

She stands about 24inches High, has bloomers, shoes and plenty of lace!!

The doll of course, is for my first Granddaughter, Ciannon Bailey (my wild Irish Rose!) who will be celebrating her first birthday this Thanksgiving. I'll be traveling to upstate NY with my sister to visit and celebrate the grand event. . So you know..I had to make her an Irish Miss, red hair, green eyes and even a tartan plaid dress. I hope she will have many years of enjoyment from her.

Christmas as we all know, is soon to follow so I'm trying to make her some Christmas gifts to take along on the trip.
Here's the beginnings of a few items.
While sitting at the doctors office and the hospital the other day (and a few hours at home) I made an appliqued flannel cat pillow front, and even cut out a second cat (in the opposite colors) to match and go onto the front of some PJ's I plan on making for Ciannon. I'll probably have these things finished up by the weekend. Then of course, I had to cut out a stuffed 'cat' pattern to go along with all the 'kitty' theme. We'll see what I come up with for those! :)

Here's the pattern I plan on using for the kitty cat..lower left hand corner. I plan on using the same pattern for the dog (lower right) to make for Brayden, grandson #1, who's now 1 1/2!!

Of course, in between and before all these things were put together, I made up some things just for randomness and fun. Thing such as these:
Stuffed kitties, just the right hand size for toddlers, a quilt square pillow, fall/halloween potpourri bags filled with all natural potpourri, a doll quilt and even some lip balm.
So see..it's not like I haven't been crafting..I just haven't been posting pics of all the stuff!
I'm sure if I think about it, there is even more things I've been doing but not taking pictures of and posting about. Oh yes..I know. I've made an appliqued pumpkin quilt square as well as cut out many many many 4inch squares for the new baby's arrival..due Dec. 25 no less.

I hope to post more pics as soon as I can..enjoy the crafts!!

Hello Ladies

My last few weeks have been busy busy busy! I've had family in for their visit, a babyshower/4th of July party and all the busyness of getting ready for it!

I've managed to keep things 'up' as it were around the house here, but have gotten behind in some things. But hey..no one is dying because I didn't sweep the ceilings ya know! LOL

I've pulled out some old crafts and started working on those again recently. My goal is to make a quilt completely by hand, the way the Pioneer women did. You'll have to help me keep going on this, because sometimes..I do get lazy! LOL

Yesterday I made a banana/nut/spice bread that was really delicious. I've posted the recipe I concocted on the Hedgewife forum, so take a look and give it a try! It was/is good! (hhhh?? breakfast anyone?)

I've got some clothes to hang out today, but it's looking like it's to rain, so I'm debatable about hanging them out or using that modern convience of the dryer!
What to do what to do!

I'm supposed to be working on a SNOWMAN..in the middle of summer! HELP!!
LOL..I've not quite gotten in the mood for Christmas yet, but I'm hoping I can get this guy done. I haven't even started, but I guess I will by tonight!

So tell me Hedgewives..what have you been up to lately??

Don't forget to visit the forum http://hedgewife.forumandco.com/index.htm
And we can chat about anything and everything Hedgewife style! See you there!
