Good Sunday mornin'!

Ahh, the day has broken through with sunshine, against the weathermans words! This is good though. We need to dry out a little bit. Even my garden is starting to feel a little water wrinkled!

Let's see, today is a 'new moon' day, which means, 'dark of the moon' or 'no moon'...so according to my mom and the Farmers Almanac..it's 'root crop' day. So today, I'll be planting our root crops. Carrots, radishes, etc. It's gonna be a wee bit hard due to all the rain we've had, but alas, it's the best day and I'll just wear muck boots if I have to! WAIT! I don't have muck boots! Weeel, in cases like that, it's easier to go barefoot! I can always wash my feet!

So, hope everyone has a great day, I'm off to head to the garden and see what I can get into, (probably just the mud!)
I think I'll put a name to my garden this year, what do ya think of "Sagewoods Vittles Thicket"?? Or how bout, "Lil' Sprouts Playground" or ..even, "Olde Crones Sprout Hedge"ROFLMAO!! see ya next time!

Another day in the world of

Well, here we go again, the sun has not quit breached the horizon, but I'm up anyway. Isn't that what you're supposed to do on a farm, small or big?? Aren't you supposed to 'get up with the chickens'? Too bad my chickens aren't off their roosts yet! Here it is, just after 6 AM and I'm up and still trying to figure out why!?
We are due for rain again today. That will make 5 days in a row it has rained, which means, no planting this weekend. It's hard to plant in a mud field. (BLEH). Not to mention it's supposed to rain on Saturday as well. I guess that means I'll be delivering the crib to my daughters house this weekend. That's a good thing though.
Well, I guess I'll get an early start on all my work, I mean, I AM up, so I might as well get started. See you in the funny papers!

Misty Morning

Every morning I rise from the bed and walk to the back door, to greet the day and let Maya, my Shepherd out. This morning as I looked out across the fields that surround me I was greeted with an awesome view. Coming across the fields was a thick bank of fog. My yard was as clear and crisp as any spring morning could be, washed clean from the previous nights rain. Looking across the field very nearby though I could see the edge of the mist, it's rolling and tumbling as it progressed toward me. It was beautiful, really. Like a white blanket being slowly unfolded over the land and the freshly planted crops. I poured my coffee, went back to the porch and watched as the unfolding continue. Ten minutes later, the mist had surrounded and covered everything, me and Maya included. ((sigh)) The day has begun and I have to ask myself, what am I going to do with it. Sometimes it's just enough to watch the day unfold before you to get one motivated.
I hope the day brings you much motivation to fill it any way you like. Today, I think I'll take needle and thread and weave a gift. :) Make today your gift.
